Tangible Interaction

In 2018 I began working with Tangible Interaction on a series of art installations utilizing a digital grafitti wall application with Unity 3D. These projects were completed for notable clients, such as Samsung and Adidas. More information and video related to these projects can be found on Tangible Interaction's website, linked above.

Galaxy Grafitti for Samsung was awarded a bronze placing in The One Club Digital Media Awards. You can find our more information about the award and the project here.

The Spray Can

The project began with me creating a 3D model of a photo realistic spray paint can for them to use as both the color picker in their custom application on a smart phone, and to 3D print the spray to be able to embed the smart phone in it. This way the user feels like they are using a real spray can while they paint on the large scale digital screen.

The Tunnel

The first scene we worked on was for Samsung, who were launching their new Samsung Galaxy phone, which was used to run the digital graffitti applciation flawlesslly. This project was installed in London. The scene was created to reference the famous grafitti tunnel in London, so I modelled, textured, and lit the assets in Unity. They had to look good, as they were going to be displayed on a 16 foot curbed LED wall, so I created a modular kit with 4K textures, to have as much resolution per square meter as possible.

NITE JOGGER

Nite-Jogger

Later in 2018, I was also contracted to help out on a project for Adidas, for the launch of their new running shoes, the Nite Jogger. For this project, I photogrammetry scanned the shoe sample we got for reference, and retopologized it to work in their application in Unity.

KINGS CROSS STATION

We were then contracted by Samsung again for a new installation of the grafitti wall, this time having multiple scenes for the users to enjoy, of Kings Cross Station, and a Brick Wall Exterior. We had a big time constraint, so I had to adapt a purchased asset from Turbo Squid of the Train Station and the Train, which involved retopologizing and unwrapping all of the assets, and upgrading all of the asset texture sets to a PBR standard.

Valencia

The most recent project we completed at the beginning of 2020, which was again for Samsung. This time the installation took place in Valencia, Spain, so I created an urban Valencia street for the user to paint on. Working with Tangible Interaction on their Digital Grafitti Wall installations has been a blast, and I hope we continue to work together on future interations and projects.
